The 2021 Tesla looks as attractive from the outside as it is from the inside. The curved and angular fascia, LED DRLs and sharp contour lines make the car look futuristic. The cabin of the S-Class features elegant, futuristic design and first-class materials. However, some reviewers noted inconsistent build quality and issues with fit and finish. This has been a consistent criticism of Tesla cars for years.

 

Models

The 2021 Tesla Model S is currently offered in two grades: Long Range and Plaid.

Long Range

It comes with a lithium-ion battery pack, a single-speed transmission, and a two-motor all-wheel drive system. This setup results in an estimated driving range of 412 miles. Standard features include a 17-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, second-row display, navigation, HD radio, 22-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, five USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless device charging for up to Two smartphones, keyless entry, three-zone automatic climate control, black faux leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, adaptive air suspension, 19-inch wheels, front and Rear parking sensors and a rear view camera.

Autopilot comes standard and includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, forward and side collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control.

Plaid model

This model adds a third electric motor, boosting the car’s output to more than 1,000 horsepower. Acceleration time from zero to 100 km/h drops to 1.99 seconds, while its top speed increases to 200 mph. Driving range is estimated at 390 miles.

 

This model also adds 21-inch wheels, black and white upholstery, automated highway driving and lane change, hands-free parking, and automatic return from the parking lot.

 

Despite the names of some of these features, the combination of automated driving is not capable of fully autonomous driving. The driver remains responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle at all times.

Tesla Model S Charging Space

Cargo space is one of the most convenient cars in the luxury electric and hybrid segment, thanks to its hatchback design and 26.3 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats. You can fold the rear seats to gain approximately 60 cubic feet of storage space.

In the engine bay under the hood, it has a front trunk, which measures 2.1 cubic feet. Provides enough space for two grocery bags or a medium sized travel bag.

Tesla does not distinguish its models in horsepower or in kilowatt-hours, and it does not have gas engines measured by displacement. Each piece has its own electric motor, and they are all powerful.

The car is powered by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and two electric motors. This setup gives the Model S acceleration faster than any other car you can buy.

The standard model S Long Range Plus accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers in about 3.7 seconds. The S Performance and Ludicrous accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds.

The car underwent minor crash tests. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave it five stars out of five in the rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not evaluated the vehicle.

Average life of a 2021 Tesla Model S

It can last up to 300,000 miles at best. If you drive, on average, 15,000 to 20,000 miles per year, you can use the car for 10 to 12 years. But major faults begin to appear from about 150 thousand miles.

The base Long Range model can run 627 kilometers on a single charge, Tesla estimates. But the US EPA agency gave the base model a range of 600 km, where a car can cover this distance without recharging.

All of these range estimates are longer than nearly all other electric vehicles on the market offer. In fact, few electric vehicles come close to the 480 kilometer range. The Model S gets between 156 and 178 kilometers per gallon on the highway, according to the EPA. Security

Tesla’s comprehensive warranty coverage for 2022 is among the longest in the electric vehicle category. But it is disappointing that the coverage does not include corrosion protection. The 4-year limited warranty covers 80,000 km, and the powertrain warranty covers 8 years and unlimited mileage.

Advice before buying

While cars like the Taycan 4S are much more expensive at $103,800, the Model S offers amazing performance, looks and features at nearly half the price. The Tesla Model justifies as the benchmark for all other electric vehicles, with nearly 627 kilometers of all-electric range, supercar-like performance, and several tech features. Simply put, it is a great choice in the luxury hybrid and electric car category.
